  PLEASE HELP ME

  i am 16 years old and i was raised as a jehovah's witness, but i want out.

  the whole society is based on brainwashing, propaganda and greed.

  my parents are so brainwashed about it that when i told her thnta i didn't want to be part of this religion anymore, she cried.

  Ok,

  Just because you're 16 doesn't mean you have to give up your self respect. I assume you love your parents and they love you. This difference of opinion on the JW thing is the main conflict? They probably see you as too immature to see clearly the results of your rejecting the faith. Oddly enough, they probably feel you are old enough to choose the way of the truth and get baptized. Confusing, eh?

  Is there someone you want to date, is that behind your reasonableness? Not trying to trivialize it at all, its actually quite common that one questions the witness doctrine when it forbids normal activities.

  You have little choice but to do as they say in a physical way, attend meetings etc. Might as well roll with it. You don't have to agree with it, or for that matter live it to the letter. Girlfriend or boyfriend on the side, smoking? (Ugh) whatever you do, you will do it anyway. The main thing is that you not give up your right to BELIEVE what you want no matter what they cram down your throat. You can do this. Its only two years. Stick with the board here and you'll get plenty of listening ears.

  Couple of JW Sisters came to my door - mini rumble

  first of all want to thank you all for informing me of the good the bad and smurfly about jws - i was so stoked when these two sister's knocked on my door.

  i apologise now - i was a smug git - in fairness they conducted themselves impeccably in the face of me.

  this is how it went (paraphrased to highlight 'clever' bits i said and downplay swathes of conversation when i said silly things.

  Your Funniest House-to-House Presentations

  so when my brother was a wee little lad, my mother was helping him prepare his first presentation.

  it involved a paradise tract, i'm sure.. anyway, so my brother, probably about 5 or 6 years old, stands at his first door and makes his little presentation.

  except he kind of forgot what he was going to say and kind of made it up on the spot, because what he ended up saying was, "if you'd like to live forever you can have this tract.

  While visiting the BIG city I went out door to door with a friend. Started the usual blah blah blah presentation and the householder interrupted me with; "So, what's the bottom line here?"

  I said, "The end is coming and we're warning people so they can make an informed choice."

  He replied, "Consider me warned." and shut the door.

  That was fun!

  i cant stop thinking too much

  i seriously cant stop thinking into things too much, does anyone know any good ways to stop over thinking?

  i just want to let myself go with what i want to do, not with what i think i should do, (this is all probably because of the way im used to thinking in the old days), is there a way you can stop yourself from thinking a way you dont want too?

  this probly makes no sense to anyone but i cant exspain it any better.

  By thinking too much, do you mean being overly critical of your decisions or dicecting them to death so much that you are immobilzed? If you can stop, sit down, slowly take a deep breath or two before you start thinking about a matter it might help. Some people experience racing thoughts, this is a condition that medication is often used to help. I'm sure you are just over cautious due to the whole witnoid thing.

  Just relax, limit your thinking to the matter at hand and examine it rationally and reasonably. Again, clear your mind and just take it easy. Sometimes talking it over with a trusted friend can help you focus. Friends are great resources. I suppose that is ultimately the best course after all.

  Congrats! I graduated in May with a BA in English. I completed the certificate program in editing and publishing. I plan on editing my own writing and submitting it for publication. I'm sure I could do some freelance editing or apply at a local magazine or two.

  It was great fun going to school and I will miss it. All the witnoids were shocked I went and still dont know how to handle it. The fact that I dont go to meetings doesn't make it any easier for them. Evil university took me out of the truth as far as they are concerned.

  What Type Of Congregation Were You In ???

  The congregation I attended was very old. (from the late 1930's). Most all of the old timers are dead now. They were here a LONG time and the place was dominated by a conservative and unrealistic viewpoint. Many of these oldsters hated each other from years of interactions that weren't always "Christian." I was best man in a 78 year old brother's wedding. Wonderful brother who lived to 93. Married a whacko though.

  There is little employment around here and people came and went regularly. Except for the oldsters. At one time we had 20 people over 70 in the congregation. In the 1980's we went from two pioneers, myself and one other, to 15. We were really drumming up support with our zeal. It became a fad eventually and most dropped out ot fulltime service.

  Familys pretty much stayed to themselves and it was a lonley place for most.

  I assume that you are 18 or older. If you are and you decide to move, even without your parents approval, you have done nothing unbiblical. All you did was move. If you are doing anything against any rules, ie: drugs, sex, stealing etc., that's another story. You will have stresses alright. I wish you success. Enjoy the struggle. W.Once

  Is There Anything After Death?

  a close friend of ours passed away last week-only 41 years old- from cancer.

  it was truly the saddest funeral i have ever attended.

  his wife was a mess, and their two little boys were being so brave for her-it was absolutely heartbreaking.. anyways, the minister giving the funeral service talked about how he is in a "better place" now, and it really started me thinking.

  It was so short I forgot to say amen. That same brother in the demonstration probably would have said something different if it were porn. I can just hear him, "Hey, this is porn from the birdcatcher. I wonder if its in a format I can watch, say wmv or mpg? I should see what sort of birdseed he's putting out there to catch unsuspecting birdies like the brothers and sisters."

  Do you feel hypocritical?

  attending meetings and performing your theocratic duties and acting as if nothing is wrong while all the time knowing it is all a fabicated lie.

  i went into a vacumm, did not talk to anybody, end of prayer,gone!

  went late left early, no comments, no singing, no prayer.

  One day I said to my Father, "I'm not going anymore. It's bullshit and I'm not going to go. You watch, no one will even call to see what's up. I stopped that day and its been nearly two years since. No one asks, no one calls, no one cares. Thats what I figured. I save a ton of gas and aggravation from having to hurry and get ready to go be berated for not being like the elders, who of course are a farce.

  The last few months I attended, I only answered when my answer would be accurate and non Society oriented, Jesus' ransom etc. and not placements. In time I figured it was a waste of breath so I came to the conclusion I did.

  Dont miss them a bit. Only miss the level of activity in helping others. Don't trust anyone now and so I'm not motivated to sign up with anyone else. I just read, write and enjoy each day.

  Not feeling hypocritcal since I left the hypocritical headquarters in our city, THe Kingdom Hell.
